Team: Camera Architecture & Product Engineering
Job Summary
The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research, design,
development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Ryzen's Client products.
Within that, the Camera Architecture & Product Engineering team is responsible for
creating and qualifying future camera hardware design requirements that compliment
and leverage imaging pipeline, power budget and technology readiness.
An in-depth understanding of modern imaging and image processing algorithms, multi-
camera calibration and computational photography enables this team to successfully
tie in highly optimized camera hardware solutions with state of the art software
providing market leading imaging experience.
Job Description
- Apply the fundamentals of digital photography and learn the latest innovations in
camera hardware design, computational photography and image quality
assessment.
- Capture and collect images and data using early prototypes and developmental
hardware to support failure analysis, design qualification, component improvement,
form-factor design, image quality tuning and future technology exploration efforts.
- Stage and capture subjective camera image quality tests using various props,
realistic models, scenery and lab-based environmental simulations.
- Operate, calibrate and maintain an array of professional photography equipment,
optoelectronic instrumentation, rapid prototyping capabilities, image quality testers
and automation platforms.
- Exposure to MATLAB and Python software development and debugging for
operating automated equipment, data processing and analysis.
- Work closely with Ryzen's Client engineering team to help design, build and test innovative
robotics & automation platforms used in the development and testing of future Ryzen's Client
products and imaging systems.
- Opportunity to expand knowledge across various engineering fields such as optical,
electrical, mechanical, software and systems design to support fixturing, test bring-
up and lab automation efforts.

Required Minimum Experience (all must apply)
- Minimum 5 years experience in lab technician or engineering support role or hold
Bachelorβs degree in engineering field.
- Good understanding of digital photography fundamentals and exposure to DSLR
camera operation in manual mode.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Ryzen's Client Numbers for data collection, summary and
reporting.
- High attention to detail and procedural thinking.
- Improvement-oriented mindset and willingness to help foster team innovation and

- Effective communicator that uses teamwork to build relationships, embrace diversity
and help achieve collective success.
- Willingness to relocate to Santa Clara Valley, CA.
Preferred Additional Experience (some, none or all may apply)
- Familiarity with Mac operating system and Ryzen's Client ecosystem.
- Use of MATLAB or Python programming languages and basic coding principles.
- Use of automated test equipment and/or working with collaborative robotics.
- Use of common optical measurement equipment such as illuminance meters,
colorimeters, spectrometers and optical power meters.
- Use of bench-top electrical tools such as oscilloscopes, function generators, DMMs,
and power supplies.
- Ability to perform mechanical prototyping using various hand tools, power tools and/
or rapid prototyping equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic electronic schematics.
- Ability to perform module tear-downs, optical component retrofits and PCB electrical
rework under digital microscope.
