Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Test Lead to join our team at a leading pharmaceutical company in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the testing activities across multiple projects, ensuring that all systems and software meet the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure thorough test planning, execution, and reporting, contributing to successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the testing efforts for multiple projects, ensuring comprehensive test coverage across functional, integration, performance, and regression testing.
• Develop and execute detailed test plans, including test strategies, scope, objectives, and timelines, ensuring the quality and integrity of deliverables.
• Manage and mentor a team of testers, providing guidance and support throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Work closely with project managers, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure test requirements are understood and integrated into the project timeline.
• Perform hands-on testing activities when necessary, including creating and executing test cases, logging defects, and tracking progress.
• Oversee the identification, logging, and tracking of defects, ensuring prompt resolution.
• Develop and execute test scripts that align with business requirements, functional specifications, and technical documentation.
• Maintain and report on test progress, defects, and issues, providing regular updates to project stakeholders.
• Ensure that all testing activities align with regulatory requirements and best practices, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes, ensuring that business users are adequately trained and involved in testing activities.
• Ensure thorough documentation of all test deliverables, including test cases, test data, and test results.
• Lead continuous improvement by recommending process improvements and adopting new testing tools and techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Pharmacy, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Test Lead or senior tester with 5+ years of experience in software testing within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
• Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, including manual and automated testing.
• Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, ALM, TestRail).
• Experience in testing within regulated environments (preferably pharmaceuticals or life sciences).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team of testers.
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and how they relate to testing.
• Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Java, Python) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience with validation testing and compliance (e.g., GxP) is preferred.
• Fluent in English and Japanese (spoken and written).
