We are looking for a HV Cable Test Engineer to join our plant in Bishopstoke, Southampton. Reporting to the Commissioning & Diagnostics Manager, you will be responsible for the planning and commissioning of High Voltage cable installations throughout the UK, as part of the HV Systems Department. You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and progress of High Voltage testing.

  • Interfacing with the Commissioning Manager, to gather information, plan and completing project to an accurate manner.Β 

  • Communicating plans and variations to the appropriate persons (Test Engineering Manager, project managers, site Engineers etc).

  • Perform site assessments prior to high voltage testing and produce detailed, site specific method statements and risk assessments.

  • Write up commissioning procedures and reports, following on from site commissioning activities.

  • Carry out the erection and setup of test equipment defined by the Commissioning Manager and Test team.

  • Coordinating the ongoing maintenance, calibration and repair of test equipment.Β 

You are the right fit if you have/are:Β 

  • Preferably hold previous experience within a similar role. However, all training will be given and we can consider recent graduates.

  • Possess good computer literacy, particularly regarding Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Planner etc.)

  • An electrical engineering background, preferable with experience of working in a high voltage environment. An interest in the fundamentals of Electrical Engineering is desired.

  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.

  • Travel will be required; therefore a driving licence is essential.

  • Ability to work away for weekday, weekend or bank holidays as required by the test program. To also be flexible to fulfil the dynamic nature of the test program.
