QA Automation Engineer Β 

Abtran has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Automation Tester to join our Engineering team and in a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our applications.Β Our ideal candidate will have strong expertise in testing APIs, integrations, and databases, leveraging Microsoft technologies and Azure DevOps.Β 

Please note that candidates must be currently residing in Ireland to be eligible for this role.Β  Applications from outside Ireland will not be considered.

How you will spend your day:
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you work as part of a scrum team and contribute to our testing strategy to enhance our automation coverage.Β 
The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is responsible for contributing to the testing strategy and collaborates as part of a cross functional team.
The role is responsible for developing and execute automated tests to enhance our testing offering, which includes
  • Designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts for API, integration, and database testing.
  • Collaborating with developers, architects, and technical analysts to understand requirements and define test strategies.
  • Implementing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Microsoft tools (e.g. Azure Test Plans) and technologies.
  • Identifying, analysing, and documenting defects and work with the development team for resolution.
  • Ensure test coverage, traceability, and execution reporting via Azure Test Plans.
  • Participating in Agile software development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Essential Skills:
  • Adopts a risk-based approach to identifying & prioritizing test case development & execution
  • Proven track record of defining, evolving and executing test cases for manual, regression and automation tests
  • Ability to create and maintain concise, accurate and accessible technical documentation.
  • Has experience authoring dashboards and queries to communicate overall test execution, progress & status in a reliable and consistent manner.
  • Ability to design, document and develop Test plans and Test cases in line with system requirements.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience in API testing using Postman, RestSharp, SoapUI, or similar tools.
  • Has developed coding skills in writing C#/.NET-based automation scripts and test frameworks.
  • Is proficient querying data stored in SQL Server for database testing (queries, stored procedures, transactions).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including test case management and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with source control systems e.g. TFS (Azure Dev Ops), Git
Soft Skills:
  • Demonstrates great communications & collaboration skills to explain defects & issues.
  • Understands teamwork, appreciates team goals & executes with a sense of urgency
  • Previous experience working in an agile software delivery process e.g. Scrum or Kanban
  • Proven experience as QA Automation Engineer.
Experience with the following is an advantage:
  • Experience using Azure Load Testing
  • Experience developing and executing performance & load tests
  • Experience with automated regression testing frameworks
  • Integrating automation testing with CI/CD Pipelines
  • UI test automation experience using Selenium,Β Playwright or similar
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks like SpecFlow (BDD), NUnit, or MSTest.
  • Knowledge of security testing frameworks (e.g., OWASP)

  • Has a good appreciation of software security concepts
  • Can immediately contribute to the automation testing
