A brief overview
Under limited supervision, creates test processes and procedures used to ensure that software operates within defined requirements. Implements test plans, automation, and validation strategies. Identifies and investigates issues found during testing, and updates test cases based on discovered defects. Works closely with software developers and software quality analysts to resolve issues. Develops and maintains automated test scripts to reduce repetitive manual testing. Participates in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
What you will do
- Assists in executing the Quality Assurance and automated testing process
- Participates in the creation of and/or review requirements and detail design documentation in any form to understand system features and begin necessary test scripting and automation
- Maintains QA and BA software tools; Assists the Manager in researching and recommending appropriate testing tools for use with the BA, QA team and developers
- Interacts with Business Analysts; User, designers and developers to further understand the system and/or resolve system defects
- Develops test plans, test cases and test scripts utilizing appropriate toolset to cover system functionality as completely as possible
- Performs automated and manual testing efforts for our products
- Develops various reports to support testing QA processes
- Adheres to approved Change Management processes for the recording and resolution of application defects; Analyzes and reports on defects utilizing appropriate defect tracking software
- Manages test data by setup and maintaining data driven tests
- Establishes and implements automated testing processes for application, performance, load, user-interface, object, regression and data quality
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related degree, or equivalent experience
- Masterβs degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related degree preferred
- 4+ Years of quality assurance and testing of medium (6-8 months) to large (12+ months) size IT web-based software projects
- 3+ Years of automation testing tools experience
- 1+ Years knowledge and understanding of Total Quality Management, Software Quality Analyst or Test Engineer best-practices, or working towards certification in these areas
- Complex analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and coordinate activities within a team
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information in straightforward manner
