At Morningstar, our shared passion for empowering investors drives our collaboration and commitment. We're seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join our Portfolio team. In this role, you will work closely with our product manager, scrum master, and developers to design and develop comprehensive test plans and cases, create automated scripts for front-end and back-end testing, conduct performance tests, and develop deep expertise in our products. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in automation testing, a passion for delivering high-quality products, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and a desire to learn and grow with our team.ย
This position is based in our Toronto office, and we follow a hybrid policy of at least 3 days onsite allowing for 2 days remote work.ย
Job Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement robust automation frameworks to enhance testing efficiency and coverageย
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive test strategies aligned with product goalsย
- Design and execute end-to-end automated test suites for API testingย
- Analyze and optimize existing test processes to improve overall quality and reduce time-to-marketย
- Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for automated testingย
- Conduct performance testing and provide detailed analysis of system bottlenecksย
- Develop and maintain test data management strategies to ensure data integrity and test reliabilityย
- Mentor junior QA team members in automation best practices and emerging technologiesย
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable automated test scriptsย
- Collaborate with development teams to implement shift-left testing practicesย
- Generate comprehensive test reports and dashboards to provide visibility into quality metricsย
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks in the software development lifecycleย
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging tools in test automationย
- Be part of on-call rotation for support as neededย
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fieldย
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 3 years focused on test automationย
- Strong programming skills in C#, Javaย
- Expertise in automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwrightย
- Proficiency in API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUIย
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)ย
- Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)ย
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps)ย
- Knowledge of behaviour-driven development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlowย
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatlingย
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailย
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in an Agile environmentย
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of financial equity data is a plus.ย
- Certification in relevant areas (ISTQB, AWS, Azure)ย ย
