Mission and Goals (About the Role)
Weβre looking for a Senior Software QA Engineer to take a leading role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our mobile applications across iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin). In this role, youβll define testing strategies, drive automation efforts, collaborate cross-functionally, and help foster a culture of quality across the organization.
Objectives (What You Will Do in This Role)
π Quality Strategy & Execution
- Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies based on product requirements, technical specifications, and project goals.
- Lead testing efforts for complex features and major mobile app releases on iOS and Android.
- Identify and mitigate risks early in the development cycle through thoughtful QA planning and execution.
βοΈ Test Automation & Technical Skills
- Build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for native mobile apps using tools like Appium, Espresso (Kotlin), and XCUITest (Swift).
- Leverage automation to ensure broad and reliable test coverage, particularly for regression and smoke testing.
- Test RESTful APIs, databases, and backend systems to ensure full end-to-end coverage.
- Contribute to performance and security testing efforts (beginner-level experience required; growth mindset expected).
π Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with product managers, developers (Kotlin & Swift), and DevOps to align on testing scope, coverage, and release readiness.
- Clearly communicate test progress, risks, and results to stakeholders and senior management.
- Advocate for QA best practices throughout the mobile development lifecycle.
π§βπ« Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing with junior QA engineers.
- Take initiative to improve QA processes, tooling, and team collaboration.
- Drive quality across the SDLC by representing QA in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Competencies (What Youβll Need to be Successful in this Role)
- 5+ years of experience in software QA, with a strong focus on mobile app testing (iOS and Android).
- Proficiency in automated testing for Kotlin (Android) and Swift (iOS) mobile apps.
- Strong hands-on experience with mobile automation frameworks like Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.
- Solid understanding of database/backend systems, test data management, and API testing.
- Introductory experience (or a willingness to grow) in performance and security testing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead QA efforts for complex projects or high-impact features.
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience testing mobile apps with a focus on security, privacy, or data protection (e.g., messaging, authentication, encryption, VPNs).
- Hands-on experience with real-device testing platforms (e.g., Firebase Test Lab, BrowserStack) for coverage across secure environments.
- Strong awareness of Play Store and App Store security guidelines and compliance requirements.
- Experience testing SDK integrations, permissions management, or deep linking in secure mobile ecosystems.
