Metron's team in Reston, VA is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to contribute to the development and deployment of several large-scale defense search, mission planning, and target tracking tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for development and execution of test plans to evaluate and validate these tools and will also support integration of these tools into defense system architectures. Role will include working with partner companies and customers on-site in Manassas, VA.Β 

ResponsibilitiesΒ 

  • Designing, executing, and debugging test plans of applications based on software requirements and technical specifications. Managing Test Cases and executions in a Test Management toolΒ 
  • Collaborate with software development team to build a comprehensive automated testing approachΒ 
  • Support Development by writing White Box Unit and Integration testsΒ 
  • Detecting and identifying software failures so that defects may be discovered and correctedΒ 
  • Documenting results and generating historical analysis of applications’ state and stabilityΒ 
  • Documenting anomalies and defects in a maintained issue tracking databaseΒ 
  • Deploying, operating, and maintaining application test instances and/or networksΒ 
  • Participating in application planning meetingsΒ 
  • Evaluating software ease of usability and error handling proceduresΒ 
  • Providing application instructions for usersΒ 

Required QualificationsΒ 

  • At least 1 year of software test experienceΒ 
  • Ability to design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automated suites of tests through continuous integrationΒ 
  • Strong programming knowledge and hands on experience with at least one of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Java, PythonΒ 
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills to communicate with development teamΒ 
  • Must be able to workβ€―independently as well as in a team environmentΒ 
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, test plans, and debuggingΒ 
  • US Citizenship required; successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified informationβ€―Β 

Desired QualificationsΒ 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, engineering or related fieldΒ 
  • An academic background in STEMΒ 
  • Test automation experienceΒ 
  • Ability to build and maintain API test automationΒ

  • This position is an in-person role, working in Manassas, VAΒ 
  • Expected start date June 2025 or later
