Overview

The Software Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst ensures high-quality, usable, and performant software products by creating and executing test plans, collaborating with stakeholders, and identifying potential issues. This role requires expertise in testing methodologies, business analysis, and data validation, as well as defining and refining QA processes to improve efficiency.

Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning and Strategy: Create detailed test plans, cases, and scripts based on requirements.
• Conduct Testing: Perform software testing (system, functional, regression, integration, performance, cross-browser, cross-device) to identify defects and ensure quality.
• Bug Tracking and Reporting: Identify, document, and track defects, working with developers and stakeholders for resolution. Monitor the status of defects and quality metrics.
• Web and Software Development Testing: Test web projects (including CMS, analytics, and accessibility), collaborating with external vendors for quality assurance.
• Regression Testing: Develop, execute, and maintain regression test plans, ensuring new features/updates don't affect existing functionalities, and anticipate potential issues.
• Business Analysis: Work with stakeholders to gather, define, and refine requirements, ensuring test cases and acceptance criteria align with objectives.
• Test Data Management and SQL: Use SQL/database skills to identify and validate test data, interface with the CRM, and support various testing scenarios.
• Test Documentation: Maintain up-to-date test documentation aligned with project requirements.
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Develop UAT plans, guide participants, and research and confirm issues, ensuring the product meets expectations.
• QA Processes: Work with the team to establish, standardize, and document QA processes, researching opportunities for automation and improving methodologies.
• Agile/Scrum: Participate in Scrum ceremonies, integrating testing into every phase.
• Continuous Improvement: Seek ways to improve testing processes and stay up to date with the latest methodologies, tools, and frameworks to ensure current effective testing approaches.
• Project Documentation and SOPs: Create project documentation and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills:
  o Strong understanding of software testing methodologies (system, functional, regression, integration, etc.) with the ability to adapt to different testing scenarios.
  o Basic SQL/database querying skills for test data validation, with the ability to write and manipulate complex queries or the willingness to develop this skill.
  o Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, automation frameworks and scripting languages (Python, Java, etc.).
  o Ability to quickly understand and work with core technologies in use at ACOG and adapt to new software and technologies.
• Business Analysis:
  o Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements.
• Test Documentation and Process Improvement:
  o Proficient in developing/maintaining test documentation and QA processes.
  o Experience with UAT, working closely with stakeholders.
• Soft Skills:
  o Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  o Adaptability and strong attention to detail.
  o Ability to convey complex issues technical and non-technical audiences.
  o Continuous improvement mindset, seeking ways to enhance testing processes, tools, and methodologies.

 

Education and Experience:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience:
  o 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance or a related field.
  o Experience defining and refining QA processes, working with business analysts/stakeholders, and developing test cases.
  o Experience with Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
  o Testing experience for mobile/web applications and APIs.
  o Hands-on with testing tools (Selenium, Postman, JUnit) and familiarity with bug-tracking tools (Jira, Bugzilla).
• Preferred Qualifications:
  o Experience building automated testing frameworks.
  o Knowledge of web design and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  o Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).

Compensation

The base salary for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, ACOG offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes the perks outlined below.
