Description

Are you interested in working on high-profile bridge projects and supporting this country's infrastructure? If so, RJ Watson is a growing local manufacturer of bridge components and we are in need of a Test Engineer to assist us in our testing department. This Quality Group technical position manages test program operations and assists the Director of Quality in test program development consistent with the organization’s growth strategy and goals.



Requirements

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 3 years minimum in a Design, Test, or Quality Engineer position.
  • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in Structural, Hydraulic, Electrical and Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Function and operation of fixture design, technical writing, and reporting.
  • Microsoft Office 365 proficiency.

Preferred:

  • Fluency in ASTM materials and testing specifications.
  • Understanding of material properties and performance behavior of elastomers and metals, structural steel fabrication methods, and material handling equipment operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret contract documents and specifications pertinent to product testing requirements and performance standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation for contract compliance, process improvement and R&D.
  • Manage throughput of all testing including but not limited to the following. β€’ Schedule development and maintenance. ; i. Test plan preparation. ii. Test specimen conditioning and fixturing. iii. Equipment and data acquisition system operation. iv. Monitoring equipment and specimen inspection prior to, during and on completion of testing. v. Data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to improve product performance including root cause analysis for noncompliant or unexpected test results.
  • Collaborate with project management personnel on planning and execution of contract work.
  • Design equipment, systems and fixtures for testing new and existing products.
  • Troubleshoot malfunction and minor repair of equipment. β€’
  • Manage internal and external equipment calibration and verifications.
  • Develop proposals for program expansion including identification of equipment, personnel and training needs.
  • Manage test data and documentation
  • Coordinate and supervise activities of assisting personnel.
  • Other duties as required.
