Test Engineer

Cogent People Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer to support a large-scale IT application development program for a mission-critical data-centric project. This role requires experience with testing automation, defining and executing test strategies and plans, with the goal of improving test effectiveness, efficiency, and product quality. 

Location Hybrid (Columbia, MD), must be in the office 2 days a week 

Specific Residency Requirement The candidate must have resided in the US for 3 of the past 5 years and must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the US (Citizen, Permanent Resident, EAD).

Responsibilities: 

• Enable full stack solutions through multi-disciplinary team planning and ecosystem integration to accelerate delivery and drive quality across the application lifecycle.  
• Perform continuous testing for security, API, and regression suite.  
• Create automation strategy, automated scripts and supports data and environment configuration.  
• Participate in code reviews, monitors, and reports defects to support continuous improvement activities for the end-to-end testing process.  
• Transform testing into a continuous and efficient end-to-end quality engineering function using quality processes, tools, and methodologies significantly improving control, accuracy and integrity. Evolve more predictive and intelligent testing approaches based on automation and innovative testing products and solutions.  

• 5+ years of experience performing quality assurance on front-end and back-end systems, both functional and non-functional testing. 
• 3+ years of experience with front-end testing automation frameworks such as Selenium, including creation of testing scripts. 
• Ability to create and execute test plans, define test cases, and drive?end-to-end automation?for continuous testing. 
• Experience with performance testing (especially Gatling) is preferred. 
• Experience with AWS. 
• Experience with databases, especially data validation. 
• Understanding of DevSecOps principles, CI/CD, deployment pipelines. 
• Understanding of security and data protection. 
• Proven experience interpreting requirements and defining and executing complete test suites for a large-scale IT system, along with test scenarios, positive/negative test cases, and supporting test data. 
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report test results clearly.
