Test Engineer
Veterans Engineering is seekingΒ  an experienced Test Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the successful completion of the initial scope listed below. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and resources to ensure that project goals and objectives are achieved on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


Test Engineer shall have ten years’ experience, of which at least nine years must be specialized. Specialized experience includes project development from inception to deployment, expertise in the management and control of funds and resources using complex reporting mechanisms and demonstrated capability in managing multitask contracts and/or subcontracts of various types and complexity. General experience includes increasing responsibilities in information systems design and/or management.

Test Engineer shall have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business or other related IT or technical discipline. The Test Engineer must be certified Test Manager or above by the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) or have an equivalent testing certification by another body.


The ideal candidate provides support to client internal programs and initiatives by assisting with ongoing tasks.
1. Working within project schedules, and offering detailed reporting. This support enables smooth program management, continuous improvement, and adherence to best practices.
2. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Management: The project takes charge ofΒ overseeing all aspects of UAT for the applications within the clients testing portfolio. ThisΒ management entails resource allocation and meticulous planning, including scope andΒ requirement document reviews, to create comprehensive test plans and scripts.
3. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Execution: As part of their quality assurance activities,Β the contractor conducts various testing types, such as subject matter expert (SME), automated testing, integration testing, regression (end-to-end) testing, andΒ smoke testing. Their thorough execution ensures the reliability and functionality of eachΒ system release or patch.
4. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Reporting: The ideal candidate diligently provides detailedΒ reports on all UAT activities. Utilizing dashboards and formalized testing reports, theyΒ offer comprehensive data and analysis to keep stakeholders informed throughout the testing process.
5. Post Deployment and Production Support: Beyond the UAT phase, the ideal candidateΒ remains actively involved in providing production support and coordination. TheyΒ engage in activities like monthly Coordinated Installations (CI), effectivelyΒ communicating with stakeholders, and proactively identifying potential risks to aidΒ leadership in decision-making.


Skills you will need:
  • Ability to stay organized with strong attention to details.
  • Project plan development experience – Ability to map structure processes to a defined plan, communicate direction, and work together as a team to meet objectives.
  • Strong documentation skills to capture the key details of each working session, extract action items and deliverables, maintain tracking of all action items and deliverables, and ensure they are completed on time in a cross-functional team.
  • Comfortable with follow-ups, gently but firmly pushing back, and holding team members accountable to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years of experience
  • Proven track record of supervisory roles
  • Must be able to pass a Federal Government background check
  • Must be available during normal business hours
