Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions is seeking a skilled Test Engineer for its Solutions Engineering team in Ames, Iowa.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicle testing projects from start to finish
  • Instrument off-highway vehicles with sensors, transducers, and other measuring equipment for field testing
  • Select and configure data acquisition hardware to achieve vehicle testing goals
  • Configure data acquisition software depending on testing needs
  • Create and modify data analysis scripts to automate data reduction and prepare it for use in reports
  • Analyze test data and report results to a variety of stakeholders
  • Communicate testing goals and results to engineering, marketing, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate DAQ fitment and field testing activities with system engineers and engineering technicians
  • Establish and maintain strong links to other Danfoss Power Solutions testing groups locally and globally
  • Keep safety as a center focus through all phases of vehicle testing
  • Coordinate with ADC personnel on test track usage
  • Develop state of the art methods and procedures for off-highway vehicle testing
  • Able to operate a variety of off-highway vehicles
  • Maintaining measurement equipment and vehicles under team control
  • Executing vehicle start-ups and trouble shooting at Danfoss facilities and pilot customer facilities
  • Rendering β€œsubjective judgment” of the drive behavior of a variety of construction, agriculture, and other off-road vehicles
  • Discussing vehicle functions and objectives with internal and external customers
  • Presentation of vehicles and systems at visitors and customers

Background & Skills

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering (prefer BS, MS, or PhD)
  • Strong, demonstrated technical background and work experience
  • 2+ years in testing for fluid power industry, off-highway industry, automotive industry, or aero-space
  • Strong hands-on and practical experience
  • Plus+, Dewesoft, FAMOS, MATLAB, SOMAT, experience a plus
