About the role:

UpEnergy is seeking a skilled Electrical/Electronic (EE) Product Test Engineer to play a pivotal role in accelerating e-cooking product development and portfolio diversification. This position will serve as the primary EE knowledge resource for the engineering team.

This role will report to the global Product Development Engineer and the location is Uganda.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Electrical Product Development, Testing, and Continuous Improvement.
    • Coordinate all EE-related product evaluations and contribute to the issuance of final design requirements to drive iterative specification development.
    • Manage the execution and reporting on continuous electrical function, performance, and reliability tests for e-cooking products.
    • Conduct thorough research to stay updated on the latest regulatory standards and industry best practices, and develop testing procedures accordingly.
  • Technical Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with internal teams and OEMS to align technical requirements for new products.
    • Offer expertise in electrical systems during design reviews to support informed and robust decision-making.
    • Formally report test findings, including actionable recommendations, to design teams and engineering leadership.
    • Work with relevant stakeholders to investigate user reported product quality issues, and provide data driven actionable recommendations for resolution.
  • Support for Quality Control and After-Sales
    • Support the development, refinement, training, and implementation of quality control (QC) protocols.
    • Train technical after-sales personnel in electrical testing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair techniques.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
    • Proven experience in electrical/electronic product development, testing, and reliability assessment, ideally in consumer electronics and/or e-cooking space.
  • Technical ExpertiseΒ 
    • Electrical Testing and Diagnostics
    • Circuit Analysis and Debugging
      • Understanding of analog and digital circuits, including the ability to troubleshoot circuit-level issues.
      • Knowledge of PCB design and layout, with experience reviewing schematics and PCB diagrams.
    • Familiarity with embedded systems programming tools and languages.
    • Energy Efficiency: Familiarity with energy efficiency optimization methods for electronic products.
    • Energy monitoring: Familiarity with energy data logging and reporting systems.
    • Compliance and Safety Standards: Familiarity with electrical safety and performance standards
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to engage effectively with product owners, OEMs, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical objectives.
  • Additional Skills
    • Familiarity with data analysis tools.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to dynamic working environments.
