JOB SUMMARY:

Satcom Direct is looking for a Senior Qualification and Test Engineer.Β As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • leading the completion of RTCA DO-160G testing.
  • developing comprehensive test strategies,
  • overseeing test execution,
  • providing technical guidance to junior engineers
  • other electronic hardware testing initiativesΒ 

As a Senior Qualification and Test Engineer you will be called on to plan and conduct engineering level testing at both the system and board level.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in electronic hardware testing, with a deep understanding of RTCA DO-160 requirements and other relevant industry standards.

Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a commitment to excellence are essential for success in this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Test Planning & Execution for Hardware Qualification to the RTCA DO-160 standard.
  • Test Pan, Procedure and Report writing.
  • Work with SMEs from the engineering design team to understand functional test requirements.
  • Test requirements
  • Quoting, Scheduling and Managing relationships with external test labs to ensure test execution.
  • Conduct Hardware Qualification Test Readiness reviews.
  • Hardware Qualification Test Data Review and Reporting.
  • Assist in failure resolution and corrective action.
  • Participate in the design and procurement of test harnesses and functional test equipment.
  • Support Engineering Change Impact Analysis to determine the appropriate amount of Qualification testing required due to design changes.
  • Mentor and lead less experienced team members.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

Required qualifications and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience testing electronic hardware to RTCA DO-160, and/or MIL-STD-810, or equivalent standard.

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Effective and timely communication, with ability to provide progress reports succinctly and confidently.
  • Ability to understand business objectives and develop a test approach that is in line with those objectives.
  • Prior participation in an aerospace qualification development project for electronic hardware.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and can demonstrate good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Knowledge of and experience with test measurement equipment (Spectrum analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters etc.)
  • Knowledge of computer networking
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems (Linux, Windows)

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, or SKILLS:

Required education, knowledge, or skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Or a 3-year college diploma in Electronic or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
  • Or significant experience in the aviation industry or other similar industry with electronic hardware development or testing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Β Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and use standard office equipment such as computer, printer, phone and cell phone. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop in order to open/close cabinets, reach for files or other standard office type objects. Β 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The office environment is generally quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to others talking or laughing loudly, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. Β An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their particular duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company/department needs, project requirements or customer demands. Β Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. Β The temperature at client locations can vary from controlled to variations off hot/cold when working, standing or walking in or near the flight-line or maintenance repair center.
